Dear Members,
It seems like just yesterday that I wrote my first quarter message and mentioned Spring. As I reflect back, I remember thinking that I had a long year in front of me. Now as we enter Fall, my year as President is almost over. The past nine months have flown by and that’s why I’m sharing the following poem. “This day is a special day, it is yours. Yesterday slipped away, it cannot be filled with more meaning. About tomorrow nothing is known. But this day, today, is yours, make use of it. Today you can make someone happy. Today you can help another. This day is a special day, it is yours. Indian poem
Thanks to the hard work of our Board and Committee members, we have continued to provide relevant educational events at our business resource meetings with excellent attendance, positive feedback and recognition.
In July we presented “How to Virtually Assist your Business”. The program included ways to manage your social networking, the benefits of using a Transaction Coordinator and Marketing firm, as well as the services of a company who provides contact management, Email campaigns and direct mailers. To sum it up, we learned how to use virtual resources so that we can spend our time providing direct service to our clients.
The August meeting was “Creative Leadership in the New Economy”. Antoinette Perez gave a rave review presentation on how we need to change our ways of doing business to meet the challenges of today’s real estate industry.
Our annual fashion show was a smashing success. I’ll let Judi and Sarah expound on the details but I do want to thank everyone who participated in any way, which were many. I feel fortunate to be part of such a generous community of people.
President Elect, Judi Hartwell, went to the Leadership Academy in Chicago for her leadership training and returned full of enthusiasm and great ideas for next year. The two jam-packed days of training is where it all comes together for the PE and the following year. I am very excited to announce that the Installation for Judi and her 2011 Board will be held at the LaPlaya Inn, in Carmel on November 11th.
Our 2011 Election of officers will take place at the October 15th meeting. The topic of the meeting will be “How to Create an Effective Business Plan”. As our market and world change, I think it’s more important than ever to create a usable business plan. Don’t miss the opportunity to obtain tips on how to prepare your 2011 plan.
We are in the process of lining up our educational programs for 2011 and would welcome ideas and suggestions.
Thanks to Noni for our new Newsletter format and don’t forget to check us out at www.wcrmonterey.org.
Please remember to support our generous advertisers, sponsors and each other!
Very Best Regards,
Gloria Reese

Thank You
To All the Wonderful Members of the Women's Council of Realtors - Realtor's, Affiliates, and your many wonderful friends, I want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU, for all the wonderful support for our "BOURBON STREET BLUES" Fashion Show.
It was again a totally successful evening, tickets sold out, silent auction items bid on, live auction items were terrific - and unbelievably, Jeff Davi, the California Commissioner of Real Estate who was our Master of Ceremonies, was able to raise in matching funds-for direct money to our charities, over $8200 which is more than amazing - it was fantabulous!! (my own word, don't bother to spell check it!).
The Models, the Participating Stores, the Sponsors, the many Brokers who sponsored and then attended the event, in the gorgeous venue of the Inn at Spanish Bay made this a night to remember. While there are too many people to try and thank - I can tell you that everyone we spoke to - took up the task - whatever it was, and was part of making this Fashion Show a Memorable Night. Now get ready, soon we have to start planning for next years! Oh! don't groan, you have a few months off - but the bar has been set a little higher now -- which only means more fun!
Thanks to all ... Judi

Going Green
The catch phrase “going green” is everywhere today, particularly on the internet. I remember when Kermit the frog of the “Muppets” sang the song “It's not easy being green”. The difference between Women's Council of REALTORS jumping on the “green” bandwagon and Kermit the frog is Kermit was actually referring to being green. We are very pleased to announce we have gone green with our quarterly Newsletter, which makes us ecologically responsible.
